The power of positivity

We hope you enjoyed our summer conference last week. It was great to see so many familiar faces. There have certainly been a number of highlights throughout the year and, combined with the positive energy from our guest speaker Marcus Child, there are a number of key things to take forward and apply to your own business model.

We are all aware that there have been a number of changes over the last few years within the property sector. There are new entrants to the market, increased competition and changes in technology. These changes can, however, create positive opportunities so it is important to have both a plan and a strategy, while at all times applying positivity. Some key things to remember:

With these thoughts in mind you can start to focus on the bigger picture. Step back and think about who you are, what you stand for, what you believe in and what makes you different. What are your values, do the people around you believe in these values and live and breathe them? If not, you need to re-evaluate and re-assess all of the above. Have a go at crafting your USP. There has never been a more important time to differentiate yourself from your competitors.

Your brand is your voice. Perhaps the phone is not ringing as much as it used to, and the enquiries are not coming into your inbox. Is your brand really working for you or is it a little tired looking and in need of a re-fresh? Does it really resonate with your target audience? In fact, do you know who your audience is?

Branding defines what people feel, think and say about your company, evoking an emotional response and creating differentiation between companies. Once you have established who you are and where you are going, you need to work on your marketing strategy and apply your key marketing messages to all customer touch points. Based on the results of an ESPC consumer survey, the following platforms were highlighted as being integral to the growth of your business:

  • Website – 93% (95% FTB) of people search for properties on websites, property portals and other online searches. Your website needs to be up to date and remember “Content is King”!
  • Shop front – 40% (44% FTB) will start the process by looking in your windows. Keep your visual identity fresh and relevant with strong seasonal marketing campaigns.
  • Social media – 10% (25% FTB) use social media platforms to search for properties. This percentage is growing all the time. Strong visuals and consistent, relevant and engaging content is crucial.

It may seem like there is a lot to think about but if you apply the power of positivity to your everyday lives, this in itself can set you up for positive change and a move in the right direction. If you attended our conference you will no doubt remember a number of inspirational stories told by Marcus Child. Just remember, whatever you believe in you can achieve!
